The experiment was conducted in the DA-SMIARC-ROS in Bololmala. Tupi, South Cotabato, to evaluate the effect of different bio-organic fertilizer levels on the growth and yield of open-pollinated corn (IPB Var-1) and sorghum (UPL-SG-5), and to assess the cost of production and return of investment in the production of both crops. A randomized complete block design (RCBD) with six treatments and four replications were used. For corn (IPB-Var 1), results revealed significant differences in terms of grain yield. Better performance was observed during the wet season, with yield ranging from 2,815.70 kg/ha to 3,550.30 kg/ha. However, low yield was attained during the dry season. Recommended rate of inorganic fertilizer (90-30-30 NPK kg/ha) obtained the highest yield of 2,803.90 kg/ha, with an estimated net benefit of P12,529 and a marginal 134% rate of return. For sorghum (UPL SG-5), grain yield and agronomic characters, such as number of panicle, weight of panicle, and weight of stalk were not significant among different fertilizer levels. Variations in yield ranged from 4,397.6 to 4,662.80 kg/ha (dry season), and 1,551.07 to 2,165.77 kg/ha (wet season). Highest net benefit was attained from the application of recommended rate of inorganic fertilizer (90-30-30 NPK kg/ha), with an estimated net benefit of P11,021 and a marginal 35% rate of return (wet season)
