A field experiment was carried out to determine the effect of different NP and bio-fertilizer levels on the yield of canola variety-I at Oilseed Section, Agriculture Research Institute, Tandojam during winter, 1998. The canola variety-I was tested under NP and bio-fertilizer levels viz., T1=0-0-0, T2=56-28-0, T3-84-42-51, T4=112-56-102, T5=140-70-0, T6=164-84-51, T7=184-100-102 and T8=200-110-102 NP kg/ha and bio- fertilizer levels (ml). The experimental layout was consisted of Randomized Complete Block Design having plot size 22.5m with four replications. The results shows that the mean days to flowering ranged from 90.5 to 92.2 days under different NP and bio-fertilizer levels. The minimum days to flowering were recorded in treatment T4 with 90.5 days and T5 with 90.5 days and bio-fertilizer levels. The period increased to 92.2 days with increase in fertility levels upto 56-28- 0 NP kg/ha. The maturity period of canola variety-I was not affected by different NP and bio-fertilizer levels. However, mean days taken to maturity under different treatments ranged from 140, to 143 days. The results were non-significant statistically which showed that the days to maturity were not influenced by NP and bio-fertilizer levels. The highest plant height (186.0 cm) was recorded under treatment T6 and bio-fertilizer levels followed by T8 and bio-fertilizer levels with 179.7 cm plant height. The minimum plant height (165.25 cm) was recorded under treatment T1 (control). The maximum 9.25 number of branches/plant were recorded in T6 and bio-fertilizer levels, followed by treatments T5 and T7 and bio- fertilizer levels, with 8.0 and 8:0 number of branches per plant respectively. The higher number of pods/plant was recorded under treated plots over control. The maximum number of pods/plant was recorded in T6 (410) followed by treatments T5 (383), T7 (380) and T8 (360), respectively. However, minimum number of pods/plant was recorded in control (238). The results showed significant differences for number of seeds/pod under fertilized plots and were recorded as maximum over control. However, maximum (25.52) number of seeds/pod was recorded under treatment T6 and bio-fertilizer levels followed by treatments T5 (23.77) and T8 (23.97). Minimum number of seeds/pod was recorded in control (20.1). Maximum (85.6 mg) seed weight per pod was recorded under treatment of T6 and bio-fertilizer levels followed by treatments T2, T3, T4, T7 and T9. Minimum seed weight per pod was recorded in control T1 (40.1 mg). The results showed that, all the treated plots produced significantly maximum seed weight/plant over control. However maximum seed weight/plant (32.80 g) was recorded under, treatment of T6 and bio-fertilizer levels followed by treatments T4, T5 and T8. Minimum seed weight/plant was recorded from control The results for seed index revealed that treatments had highly significant differences on seed index. The highest (4.2g) seed index (1000 seed weight g) was recorded in treatment T6= 164-84-51 NP kg/ha and bio-fertilizer levels followed by treatments T5(38g). The minimum seed index was recorded under control T1(3.1g). The seed yield/plot (g) of canola variety-I ranged from 873 to 2246 g. The results further indicated that all NP and bio-fertilizer levels recorded higher seed yield/plot(g) than control. The maximum 2246 g seed yield/plot was recorded under T6 and bio-fertilizer levels followed by treatments T5 (1744 g) and T7= (1661 g). Minimum seed yield/plot was recorded under T1= control (873 g). The results indicated that all NP and bio-fertilizer levels gave highest seed yield over control. The seed yield increased under treatment T6, but further increased fertilizer levels had no effect on seed yield. However, the number of branches/plant, pods/plant and seed weight/plant are yield contributing factors, which finally affect on yield. All the factors under study were statistically highly significant under treated plots over control. Maximum seed yield was obtained under treatment T6=(998 kg/ha) followed by T5= (775) kg/ha and T7=(827 kg/ha). The minimum seed yield (kg/ha) was obtained under control (388 kg/ha).
