Effect of mango kernel as a partial replace of maize on carcass yield of broiler chicks

The experiment was conducted to study the effect of mango kernel as a partial replace of maize on carcass yield of broiler chicks. 120 days old chicks were reared on the four experimental rations up to 35 days of age. The chicks were randomly divided into four groups of 30 birds each. The body weight, daily feed offered, refused feed and feed consumption was calculated weekly. At the end of experiment 10 birds from each group were taken at random and slaughtered for carcass weight and weight of internal organs (liver, heart, gizzard and intestine). Experimental rations A, B, C and D containing 21% crud protein and kcal/kg metabolizable energy was 2700 in A group, B group 2680, C group 2640 and D group 2600. The mango kernel levels in group A control, B-10%, C-20% and D-30% of mango kernel were fed up to 35 days of age. Results revealed highly significant difference among weight gain of chicks were 1454.14g, 1432.79g, 1416.48g and 1404.18g respectively. Results revealed highly significant difference among total feed consumption of chicks was 3053.69g, 2794.01g, 2848.10g and 3061.64g respectively. The total feed conversion ratio was 2.09, 1.95, 2.01 and 2.18 respectively. Better-feed utilization was observed in chicks fed on ration B as compared to the other rations. Carcass weight of birds was 800.50g, 785.00g, 780.00g and 772.00g respectively. Highly significant difference was recorded for carcass weight and internal organs of chicks of various groups.
