Evaluation of parasitization of Trichogramma chilonis to the eggs of cotton bollworms

The present study was carried out in the laboratory, at the Nuclear Institute of Agriculture, Tandojam, to evaluate the potential of Trichogramma chilonis to parasites the eggs of cotton bollworms Viz.; Spiny, Spotted and Pink bollworm, during the year 1999. The results regarding spinny, bollworm, manifest that 6.16 percent parasitization was noted when fresh eggs of spiny bollworms were offered to fresh Trichogramma chilonis, but the eggs parasitization was reduced to 2.08 percent, when these eggs were offered to one-day old Trichgamma chilonis, and when these eggs were offered to two-day old Trichogramma chilonis no parasitization observed. However, fresh emerged Trichogramma chilonis produced 5.35, 3.20 and zero percent parasitization in one day two-days and three-days old spiny bollworm eggs respectively. The data for spotted bollworm represent that 6.1.2 percent parasitization was occurred in fresh eggs of spotted bollworms when offered to fresh Trichogramma chilonis. The eggs parasitization was diminished to 3.81 and 1.83 percent, when spotted bollworm fresh eggs were offered to one-day and two- days old Trichogramma chilonis, respectively. On the other hand, fresh emerged Trichogramma chilonis produced 3.90, 0.95 and zero percent parasitization in one-day, two-days and three-days old spotted bollworm eggs respectively. The results on pink bollworm explicit that 70.75 percent parasitization was noted in fresh eggs of pink bollworms when offered to fresh Trichogramma chilonis. The eggs parasitization was decreased to 26.86 and 3.93 percent, when pink bollworm fresh eggs were offered to one-day and two-days old Trichogramma chilonis respectively. In either side, fresh emerged Trichogramma chilonis produced 58.08, 17.83 and 9.56 percent parasitization in one-day, two-days and three-days old pink bollworm eggs respectively.
