Comparative growth and yield behaviour of gram cultivars
2000
Jalbani, Z.
The study was conducted to compare the different gram cultivars for the growth and yield behavior of gram at Pulse Research Section, Rice Research Institute Dokri, During Rabi (winter) season 1998 - 1999. The seeds of gram cultivars were sown in three replicated randomized complete block design with plot size of 4 m * 1.2 m (4.8 m 2). For recording data, three plants were selected from each plot randomly. The following observations including days to 50% flowering, days to 90% flowering, plant height (cm), branches per plant, pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, 100-seed weight, yield per plot (kg) and yield per hectare (kg) were recorded. 50% flowering showed non-significant influence on different grain cultivars. The cultivars E and C took highest (80.66): end (80.0), number of days to 50% flowering respectively: However, cultivars ICCV-93705 and ICCV-93027 both had lowest (78.33) days to 50% flowering. The results were non-significant for cultivars mean. The cultivar ICCC-90138 had maximum (136.66) days to 90% maturity followed by ICCV-93103 with (139.66) days to 90% maturity respectively. Where as the cultivar r' recorded minimum (136.66) days to 90 % maturity. The results for plant height were highly significant for cultivar means. The maximum (71.44 cm) plant height was recorded from cultivars ICCV-93705 followed by cultivars E with (64.66 cm) plant height. Where as the minimum (44.88 cm) plant height was recorded from the cultivar ICCV-93109. The cultivars had non-significant t-test for mean number of branches per plant. The highest (3.33) number of branches per plant was recorded from cultivar whereas the minimum (2.66) number of branches per plant were recorded form cultivars ICCV-90138. The results were note mean number of pods per plant. The cultivars ICCV-93705 produced maximum (50.88) pods per plant. Where as the minimum (38.99) number of pods per plant was recorded from ICCV-93109. The results were non-significant for mean number of seeds per pod in cultivar C, and the minimum (1.66) number of seeds per pod was recorded under cultivar ICCV 93109. The results were statistically non- significant for 100-seed weight. The cultivars ICCV-90138 had maximum weight (28 g) of 100-seed weight. However the minimum (18 g) was recorded under cultivars ICCV-93109. The results were significant statistically for mean seed yield kg per plot but he cultivars ICCV-93103 gave maximum (1.060 kg) seed yield per plot. Where as cultivar c produced minimum (1.003 kg) seed yield per plot. However the minimum (2090.273 kg) seed yield was recorded from cultivar C.
