In the experiment the plants of broccoli were grown in Micherlich pots filled with peat containing different sulphate levels: 530, 930, 1500 and 1900 mg S-SO4/cubic dm. The leaching of sulphates from the pots as well as the mineral composition of broccoli were determined. The content of thiocyanates in broccolli was also determined. The sulphate leaching rate depended on the period of time from the beginning of planting and on the content of sulphates in the medium. On the other hand, the level of sulphates in the medium did not affect the mineral composition of plants. The content of thiocyanates and sulphates in the broccoli increased with increasing levels of sulphates in the medium
