The object of investigations were fallowed brown soils in Middle Sudety Mountains the properties of which were compared to arable soils. Obtained results, showed, that the soils derived from silty loam. The fallowing resulted in smaller content of organic carbon in the soils and on nine and ten year fallows the available forms of potassium decreased too. The upper layers of fallowed fields - in comparison to arable fields were characterized by slightly lower pH, higher hydrolytic acidity and lower degree of sorption complex saturation by alkalic cations
