The objective of the study was evaluating cultivated and non-cultivated grasses in respect of chlorophyll concentration with special emphasis on the possibilities of their utilizing as an indicator of usability. In addition, an attempt was made to connect plant colour with their productivity and chemical composition. Investigation were conducted mainly in 1997-99. The experimental matter was derived from plot experiments. Leaf blades were used as analytical material. Chlorophyll was determined with traditional method but attempts were also made to use a chlorophyll-meter
