The herd analysed in the study is not uniform genetically in terms of slaughtering traits, which may indicate a genetic variability of the Large White Polish breed. The selection index and the meat content of the carcass at the 2nd test are to a large extent dependent on the decrease in carcass meatiness between the 1st and 2nd test. On the basis of statistical differences between sows in terms of the decrease in carcass meatiness between 1st and 2nd test it may be concluded that the value of this trait is genetically determined and selection aiming at this trait may result in improved carcass meatiness and selection index for individual animals in the herd
