In years 1991-97, on a big area-farm in the province of Leszno (Poland) was carried out a research whose task it was to analyse the economic effectiveness of plant protection against the background of structural and legal changes of the transformation period. The research data were worked out by means of the vertical and synthetic analysis with different level of detail. The outlays on plant protection were determined by use of such measures as: the usage of BSA per ha, frequency of treatments. The economic effectiveness of chemical plant protection was presented by means of the ratio of cost coverage E1 and E2. The research has shown that on the researched big-are farm the process of privatisation did not influence greatly the organizational structure of the farm. As a result privatization the financial result have been improved, while the economic effectiveness of the chemical plant protection has considerably risen
