The studies carried out n the years 1993-95 on a meadow object of the area of 206 ha lying in the basin of the Wieprz river near Lubartow (Poland) investigated the yielding and proportion of papilionaceaus plants in the undergrowth, as well as the content of N, P, K, Ca, Mg Fe, Cu, Mn and Zn in the gathered hay. 19 research sites of about 1 ha were established which were characterized with clear uniformity of plants and edaphic conditions. It was found out that a considerable part of the examined meadows yielded on a very low level, below 3.9 t/ha of dry mass. The studies proved the effect of papilionaceaus plants on the content of protein in the fodder. On the other hand, no distributing shortage of macro- and microelements in the studied fodder was found out
