The paper presents time and space changeability of frosts at the height of 5 am in the Lublin district (Poland) during the vegetation period (IV-X). The meteorological data from the years 1971-90 obtained from 14 places of the area were used and the studies determined the following: mean and extreme dates of frosts; mean and shortest time of no-frost period; mean and maximum numbers of frosty days, frequency of the occurrence of frost. It was found out that no-frost periods latest from 115 to 145 days on the average, and the mean number of frosty days ranged from 18 in Sandomierz to 30 days in Radzyn Podlaski. Little changeability of the number of frosty days is observed in April and October, while considerable variability is noticed in May and September. It fallows from the studies that ground frosts in spring at the latest and in autumn at the earliest threaten the areas north-eastern and south-eastern Lublin district
