2002
Salata, A. (Lublin Agricultural University , (Poland). Dept. of Vegetable Crops and Medicinal Plants)
The research was carried out in 1996-98. For laboratory estimation the petioles of five rhubarb cultivars were used: Koral, Karpow Lipskiego, Wczesny Hosera, Wisniowy, and Purpurat. In each year of the research the petioles gathered in the first ten days of May and in the first ten days of June were intended for analyses. During the three years of the research the petioles were gathered from the same plants. Irrespective of cultivar in every year of the research, the most L-ascorbic acid was found in the petioles gathered in the first ten days of May (16.92 mgprecent fresh matter), and considerably less in the petioles gathered from plants in the first ten days of June (8.62 mgpercent fresh matter). The evaluated rhubarb cultivars varied significantly as far as the L-ascorbic acid content was concerned. Most of it was found in the petioles of Purpurat plants (14.62 mgpercent fresh matter), and the least in the petioles of Koral (10.96 mgpercent fresh matter)
