Median artery wall structure of domestic pig

The investigations were carried out on median artery of pig aged from 9 month to three years and on one two-month old female foetus. Samples were taken every centimeter alongside a whole median artery. Microscopic preparations were hitologically elaborated and stained according to the method of van Gieson with additional staining of elastic fibres with resorcinofuschin by Weigert's method Preparation were then thoroughly studied under microscope to recognise different structures of vascular wall. In comparison with brachial artery, initial segment of median artery characterises of pronounced thickness, created by increased number of layers of the smooth muscular fibres in the middle coat
