On sward-podzolic light loamy soil application of 0.15 kg/ha of copper sulphate together with mixtures of carbamide and nitrate ammonium solutions as extra root dressing at the stage of preheading increased grain yield of spring wheat on the average by 1.7 dt/ha and raw protein content of grain by 0.7 percent and gluten - by 1.1 percent during 3 years in comparison with N45P50K90+N(25+20) fertilization. Winter rye grown on sward-podzolic light loamy soil received extra root dressing carbamide and ammonium nitrate simultaneously with 4 kg/ha of magnesium sulphate and 50 g/ha of copper sulphate, 50 g/ha of ammonium molibdenate, 50 g/ha of zinc sulphate at the stage of preheading increased grain yields of winter rye by 3 dt/ha on the average during 1998-00 as compared with P40K90+N(60+30+20) but did not contribute to the improvement of grain quality
