Action of some essential oils on fungi
2001
Bartynska, M. | Budzikur-Ramza, E. (Agricultural University, Krakow (Poland). Dept. of Plant Protection)
This experiment was carried out in vitro employing of Kowalik's and Krechniak's method. The aim of the study was to determine fungicidal activity of some essential oils (eucalyptus, lavender, rosemary and thyme) and the standard fungicide (Topsin M 70 WP) against fungi from the genus Fusarium isolated from diseased plants (gerbera, limonium, aphelandra, ctenanthe, rosemary). The eucalyptus, lavender, rosemary and thyme oils were effective in inhibiting fungal growth. Thyme and lavender oils showed the highest fungicidal activity against all fungal species. The lowest fungicidal activity was found for combinations with rosemary oil. Similar low fungicidal activity was observed also for Topsin M 70 WP, which completly inhibited the mycelium growth only of Fusarium oxysporum isolated from ctenanthe
