Growth rate, feed intake and feed conversion in fattening bulls of main beef breeds kept in Poland

Compared were Charolais, Limousin, Hereford, Red Angus, Simmental and F1 Piedmontese X Friesian bulls, a total of 95 animals, fattened in tie-stalls. Growth rate data were recorded monthly from birth to the age of 15 months, while feed intake daily over a sixty-days test period (month 13 and 14). After reaching the age of nine months the bulls were offered ad lib. a total mixed ration composed of 75 percent corn silage, 20 percent concentrates and 5 percent hay. At the end of fattening the bulls were measured. Feed conversion was estimated for DM, CP, feed units for maintance and meat production were measured
