Sugar beet fertilization in the water protected areas

It follows from the results of the research with sugar beet fertilized by different sources and rate of nitrogen in the years 1998-2001 that: The yield and quality of sugar beet was effected by the weather the most, different sources and forms of nitrogen fertilization did not effect the yields of the root significantly, however they, effected the technological quality. The highest level of sugar content and the refined sugar production was on the control variant (PK), or as the case may be the lowest content of an amino nitrogen in the sugar beet was on the variant fertilized by straw + PK. From the point of view of environment (protection of water against nitrates) the wheat straw ploughing in has proven to be beneficent. Straw in comparison with manure could better manage the level of soil nitrogen
