Following period of the years 2002-2004 will be an important period for access to the European Union for Slovak agricultural and food sector. In this period it will come to a resolution if and how domestic products pass on the European market under the conditions of free competition of the EU countries. Primary source of interest of the Slovak Republic is maintenance of productive efficient multi-functional agriculture of European model, which covers effective full-area cultivation of land resources of the country and carries out several functions of non productive character.
