Geological heritage of Serbia [Yugoslavia] - identification, categorization and protection of the heritage objects

The paper presents a complex approach to the problems of valorization of geological and geomorphologial geo-heritage. Territory of Serbia (Yugoslavia) is characterized by a broad spectrum of geo-heritage objects and examples for some of them (for minerals, rocks, ore deposits, fossils, geomorphological objects, mineral waters, springs) are given. It is proposed foundation of national program for geo-heritage valorization and a relevant model, based on a multi-level approach, is established. The model consists of 4 groups of activities: identification, categorization, protection/conservation, presentation of objects of geo-heritage. For these activities, general criteria and some examples are presented.
