We examined the effect of inoculation of forage pea and alfalfa on nodulation, mass of the plant and number of microorganisms in rhizospheric soil of examined cultures. The experiment with two forage pea varieties (NS Junior, Moravac) was conducted in chernozem soil. The variants were the following: control, 15 kg N/ha, inoculation with Nitragin, inoculation with one strain Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. viciae. The experiment with alfalfa was conducted in a green house while seed inoculation was done with a solution of soils of different acidity and with Rhizobium meliloti strains. The nodulation of pea was high in all variants whereas dry matter mass of a plant in both varieties was highest in the variant with Nitragin. The nodulation and dry matter mass of alfalfa was extremely low in those variants which were inoculated with a solution of acid soils. The number of Azotobacter and oligonitrophilous bacteria in the rhizosphere of pea was higher when Nitragin was applied. In rhizospheric soil of alfalfa which was inoculated with a solution of acid soils, there was no Azotobacter and the number of fungi was large.
