Effect of nitrogen fertilization on sugar beets' varieties yield and root quality on soil with and without rhizomania

In this examinations the effect of nitrogen fertilization on sugar beets' varieties and root quality cultivated on soil with or without rhizomania were practiced. The effect of fertilization (50, 100, 150 kg/ha of nitrogen) on root yield, sugar content and yield of clear sugar for two susceptible (Al Omona and Delta) and one tolerant (KWS Rama) variety on rhizomania was investigated. The more important following results are achieved: The most effect on sugar beet yield and root quality is indicated by soil, respectively the presence of the rhizomania pathogen in it. The tolerant variety KWS Rama obtained considerably better results as well on infected so on noninfected soil. The fertilization was also manifested considerably effect on examined beet characteristics, and particularly on infected soil with rhizomania.
