Diet and effect of NaNO2 on some functional activities of rat liver endoplasmic reticulum

The influence of NaNO2 on the functional activity of rat liver endoplasmic reticulum was examined when administered on normal or changed diet - different lipid content as well as addition of cysteine to the food. It was shown that the diet with high lipid content enhanced lipid peroxidation. Cystein possessed an opposite effect. An antagonistic effect of this amino acid against nitrite induced changes in the activity of the endoplasmic reticulum located enzymes was found. In contrast a high lipid diet had the capacity to intensify nutrite effects - namely an inhibition of lipid peroxidation and an activation of aniline hydroxilase.
