Effect of artificial recycled diet on some indicators of quality in the Galleria mellonella LINNEO (LEPIDOPTERA: PYRALIDAE) and Lixophaga diatraeae TOWNSEND (DIPTERA: TACHINIDAE)rearing | Efecto del reiclaje de dietas artificiales sobre algunos indicadores de calidad en la cría de Galleria mellonella LINNEO (LEPIDOPTERA: PYRALIDAE)y Lixophaga diatraeae TOWNSEND (DIPTERA: TACHINIDAE)

إنجليزي. An artificial diet for Galleria mellonella rearing was selected from "Pablo Noriega" Entomophage Reproduction Center in La Habana. The dietary ingredients were corn flour, torula yeast, sugar cane syrup, wheat brand and honey bee. Some studies were carried out for recycling the diet. The larval medium to be disposed was sterilized at WTC during 30 minutes. Then, it was reconstituted with 25% (VI), 50% (V2) and 75% (V3) of fresh diet. A 100% of fresh diet was used as control. Each treatment was replicated three times during three insect generations. A general lineal model with larval yield, larval mortality during harvest, adult emergence, sex ratio, pupal length and adult deformation to G. mellonella and pupal length to L. diatraeae as dependent variables was used as statistical analysis. No significant differences in the pupal length, mortality and adult deformation of G. mellonella per diet was observed. The larval yield was between 225 and 302 larvae, without differing significantly from the control. The adult emergence was around 80%, except for V1 (78%) which differed from the control. Sex ratio favored females, except for the control. The L. diatraeae pupal length oscillated between 5.84 and 6.06 mm, without differing from the control. The results indicate that it is possible to employ recycled diet in G. mellonella production.

Se seleccionó la dieta artificial establecida en el Centro Reproductor de Entomofagos y Entomopatogenos "Pablo Noriega" para la cría de G. mellonella, la cual estuvo compuesta por afrecho de trigo, harina de maíz, harina de soya, levadura torula, sirope sucro y miel de abejas y se realizaron ensayos para su reciclaje. Una vez que cumplimentó su ciclo en la producción, la dieta se esterilizó en una estufa a 120°C durante 30 minutos y se reconstituyó con 25% (variante 1), 50% (variante 2) y 75% (variante 3) de dieta fresca. Se empleó como testigo la dieta recién elaborada. Cada variante se repitió tres veces durante tres generaciones. Se empleó un modelo lineal generalizado que incluyó el rendimiento larval, mortalidad larval en el momento de la cosecha, emergencia de adultos, proporción sexual, longitud pupal y adultos deformes para G. mellonella y la longitud de los puparios para L. diatraeae. No se detectaron diferencias significativas en la longitud pupal, deformaciones y mortalidad del adulto en (G. mellonella por variante de dieta. El rendimiento estuvo comprendido entre 225 y 302 larvas, sin diferir significativamente del testigo. La emergencia de adultos estuvo por encima del 80%, excepto en la variante I (78%), la cual difirió del testigo. La proporción de sexos favoreció a las hembras, no así en el testigo. La longitud de las pupas de L. diatraeae osciló entre 5.84 y 6.06 mm, sin diferir del testigo. Los resultados indican que hasta la tercera generación es posible el empleo de dietas recicladas en la producción de G. mellonella. *'
