In this study, optimal conditions of Chronopotentiometric Stripping Analysis of selenium using mercury film electrode were defined. The technique modifications with the solution deaeration and "medium exchange" were investigated and discussed. A procedure for the determination of a different selenium oxidation states was proposed. Interfernces from copper, iron and lead were examined as well. Detection limits obtained for the technique with prior deaeration and for "medium exchange" technique were, 0.4 microgram/cubic dm and 1.12 microgram/cubic dm, respectively. Defined methods were used for selenium determination in flour, garlic, pepper, clover, celery and pharmaceutical products based on selenium yeast, with the prior optimization of the sample preparation procedures.
