The objective of this study was to describe the rattan diversity, as well as to assess quantitatively the structure of the rattan diversity on the upper montane rain forest, mount Halimun National Park, West Java. Data were collected on 200 sample plots of 0.02 ha along an altitudinal gradient on Mt. Halimun. The number of rattan species, morphology characteristic as well as the diameter and height of each individual rattan species were recorded on each plot. The results of the study showed that, there are four genera consisting of 13 species of rattan in Pameungpeuk Mount: Calamus (seven species), Daemonorops (four species), Korthalsia (one species), and Plectocomia (one species). Data analysis indicated that Calamus javensis and Plectocomia elongata are dominant species. It also showed that diversity as well as the density of rattan is relatively lower in area with an altitude of more than 1,000 m above sea level
