Membrane technology is selective barriers that permits the separation of certain spices in a fluid by combination of seiving and sorption diffusion mechanisms. Now this technology is beginning to penetrate the corn and other grain milling industries; and it has made dramatic strides: rapidly developing into a valuable method for concentration, purification, and separation of components in a wide range of steam. In term of energy, membrane separation have an important advantage in that because no heat is required with membranes, thus it is possible to produce products with functional properties superior in some respects to those produced by conventional processes. This article discusses membrane technology and the application of membrane technology on corn processing industry.
