Monitoring and control of soybean armyworm Spodoptera litura with sex pheromonoid

إنجليزي. The soybean armyworm, Spodoptera litura, is one of the major insect pests of soybean. Pest control of soybean at the present is usually done by spraying insecticides. Due to the environmental problems resulted from excessive use of insecticides, the role of sex pheromonoid as an integral part of the integrated pest management of soybean armyworm was studied. The results showed that sex pheromonoid effectively trapped the virgin males of the armyworm, and subsequently reducing the insect population in the next generation. Six trap units of per ha of sex pheromonoid effectively trapped 795 male moths, and the damage intensity was suppressed under 5 percent. As sex pheromonoid acts selectively for only the armyworm, a combination with insecticide is needed in order to control other insect pests of soybean. Such combination would effectively reduce the armyworm population up to 80 percent. When the insecticide spray was directed to control other leaf feeding insects, insecticide should be applied based on the damage threshold

مجهول. Hama ulat grayak merupakan salah satu hama penting tanaman kedelai. Insektisida merupakan sarana yang paling mudah diaplikasikan, namun akan berbahaya terhadap lingkungan apabila aplikasinya tidak tepat. Feromonoid seks ulat grayak merupakan alternatif pengendalian hama ulat grayak yang sangat efektif. Rata-rata per hektar feromonoid seks ulat grayak mampu menangkap 795 ekor ngengat jantan ulat grayak dan menekan intensitas serangan ulat grayak di bawah 5 persen. Namun pada pertanaman kedelai, hama yang menyerang daun cukup kompleks tidak hanya ulat grayak saja, sedang feromonoid seks ulat grayak hanya mampu mengendalikan hama ulat grayak saja. Oleh karena itu kombinasi dengan insektisida masih diperlukan. Kombinasi feromonoid seks dengan insektisida mampu menekan populasi ulat grayak sebesar 80 persen.
