Mithun (Bos frontalis) is one of the largest existing bovine which is mainly confined in North - Eastern Hills Region of India. The animal plays a great role in the economic, social, cultural and religious life of local tribal population. It is a semi domesticated animal and fully dependent upon jungle grasses, herbs, shrubs and tree leaves. Utilization of these green forages by mithun has not been worked out scientifically. The present study, therefore, aims at a determining the nutrients intake, their utilization and nutritive value of mixed natural grassess generally eaten by mithun from jungle area.
