Post-partum anoestrus, which limits reproductive efficiency of the cattle, is due to failure of ovulation rather than delay in development of dominant follicle. To induce fertile oestrus in anoestrous cattle, equine chorionic gonadotrophin (eCG) has been frequently used with progesterone to stimulate final follicular maturation and ovulation. Marked individual variations in response to eCG and the induction at superovulation may alter subsequent conception rate in some cows. Hence the present study was aimed to study the effect of GnRH on fertility response in post-partum anoestrous cows.
