The goal of society is material and intellectual well-fare and it is of high importance also for Latvia's countryside. There live nearly 32% of all Latvian inhabitants today. Education is one of the indices of life quality. Only educated people, who are able to compete in the labour market, can create the necessary preconditions for further development for themselves and the society. The rural vocational education of Latvia is essentially influenced by processes of transformation to market economy, in the result of which the rural labour market has changed because of cardinally diminishing traditional requirements for the labour force. The rural vocational education system has reached over-production of the labour force and meets serious problems in students' admission: low prestige of rural professions and insufficient preparedness in general education. Therefore, the ruralvocational system is in a continuous innovation process of the curriculum.
