Reef fish assemblage fronting beach resorts in eastern Mactan Island Cebu (Central Philippines)

A checklist of reef fishes from three sites in eastern Mactan Island, Cebu (Central Philippines) is presented. Two of the three sites are managed by world class beach resorts while the third is not. The three sites appear to be similar in the total number of species and families. However, there were more species of commercial importance that were recorded in the two beach resorts. The reef fronting Shangri-la beach resort has 48 target species followed by Plantation Bay (39) and then Maribago (33). Difference of bottom topography and the conservation efforts are possible reasons for the difference of fish composition observed in this study
