The pharmacokinetics of acetylsalicylic acid, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, was studied in twelve healthy young females after oral administration of 600 mg aspirin. Blood samples were collected at pre-determined time intervals. The concentration of aspirin as free salicylic acid was analyzed colorimetrially at 530 nm and mean plus minus SE value in blood was found to be 30.33 plus minus 0.63 mug mL-1. Individual pharmacokinetic parameters were estimated by using two compartment open model. Mean plus minus SE values were found to be Cmax 44.54 plus minus 0.46 mg L- 1, tmax 1.87 plus minus 0.05h, t ® alpha 1.17 plus minus 0.25 h, Ka 0.85 plus minus 1.12 h-1, AUC 275 plus minus 2.73 h.mg L-1, Vd 10.90 plus minus 0.76 L, t ® bita 4.69 plus minus 0.55 h and TBC 1.68 plus minus 0.06 L h-1. ASA values established in this study were in agreement with those reported by other authors.
