This paper is based on the primary data collected from randomly selected 80 betel leaf growers of the coastal area of Sindh. At present very small quantity of betel leaves are produced in the country, which is about 5% of the total consumption. The remaining quantity is imported from India. Recently, area under betel leaf in coastal area is increasing rapidly due to high returns to producers and other market intermediaries. The major problems in betel leaf farming were identified as high initial costs, lack of knowledge among growers, poor management operations, un-balanced chemical fertilizer and lack of trained labour. Analysis further indicated that this crop has tremendous potential in the coastal area of Sindh for future development and expansion.
