2003
Shah, M.A. | Maqsood, M. | Goheer, A.R. (University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (Pakistan). Dept. of Agronomy)
The varieties differed and dry weight in the leaf area and dry weight of fully expanded flag leaf, total leaf area of plants at 50% anthesis, number of total tillers (m-2), number of fertile tillers (m-2), number of spikelets per spike, 1000-grain weight, grain yield, straw yield and harvest index. There was significant positive correlation (r= 0.712), between flag leaf area and flag leaf weight. Flag leaf area showed negative correlation (-0.556) with the number of spikelets per spike. Flag leaf area showed positive correlation (0.570) with the 1000-grain weight. Flag leaf area had no significant effect on grain yield. Plant leaf area showed positive correlation with the total number of tillers (m-2) and the spike length r = 0.518 and r = 0.552, respectively. Positive correlation (0.671) was observed between the total number of fertile tillers as (m-2) and he grain yield (r = 0.700). The number of grains per spike showed a correlation (r = .546) with he straw yield.
