Wheat bran, rice polishing, sunflower meal, soybean meal and fish meal were utilized to formulate three levels of dietary protein (20 %, 25 % and 30 %). The effect of these levels was studied on the growth performance of Cirrhinus mrigala fingerlings. The protein to energy ratio 1:90 was maintained in three diets. The diets were offered at 4 % of wet body weight of fingerlings. Maximum body weight (6.89 plus minus 0.02g) and body length (11.5 plus minus 0.05 cm) of fingerlings were observed on 30 percent dietary protein level whereas lower body weight (3.66 plus minus 0.03 g) and body length (6.7 plus minus 0.020 cm) were noted on 20 percent dietary protein level. The higher value of FCR (0.87) was noted on 20 percent dietary protein level, while lower value of FCR (0.85) was observed on 30 percent dietary protein level.
