To study growth characters and yield components of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) subjected to foliar application of naphthalene acetic acid
2002
Saleem, A.
The study pertaining to the effect of foliar sprays different NAA concentrations applied to two wheat varieties namely, Uqab-99 and Inqlab- 91 was carried out . The experiment was laid out in a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factor factorial arrangement having five treatments including control and three replication. Thirty pots were used for both the varieties. 25 ppm and 50 ppm NAA were applied thrice 6 and 10 weeks after germination. The data for different parameters were recorded maturity. Significant effects of naphthalene acetic acid were observed for dry weight of shoot, number of leaves, spike length, yield per plant, 100- grain weight, biomass per plant and leaves, leaf area, more responsive number of grains per spikelets. Shoot length, number of shoot dry weight and biomass per plant were when different NAA concentrations were sprayed 6 weeks after germination. Leaf area and biomass per plant were increased more due to the application of 25 ppm NAA. Application of 50 ppm gave better results for number of leaves and shoot dry weight. Yield and yield contributing parameters were positively affected due to application of the hormone 10 weeks after germination. Comparatively better results were achieved due to the application of 25 ppm NAA than 50 ppm at this period of application. Wheat variety Inqlab-91 performed better than Uqab-99 under the influence of NAA treatments.
