Unevenaged Scots pine stands - origin, structure, silviculture

The possibilities and methods of non clearcut silviculture of two-generation and unevenaged stands were analysed, based on original studies and literature review. The study was aimed at 1) determination of the overstory effect on the origin, subsequent growth and morphology of understory pine regeneration and its growth response to removing the overstory after long lasting existence under the canopy, 2) analysis of two- and multigeneration scots pine stands structure with particular emphasis on determination of the necessary condition and principles of their tending. The empirical study was carried out in stands subject to the clearcut silvicultural system and the non clearcut system (the latter were small area privately owned stand)
