The current study, executed under the context of the research project PAMAF IED no. 1009, shows some of the main results on planning and on economic evaluation of horticultural crops (for processing) farming systems, located in "Ribatejo e Oeste" region, according to the present and future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). Some farming systems were classified using multivariate analysis, and some linear programming models, well adapted to the structural, technical and economic average conditions were formulated, stressing the formulation of the CAP programming matrix. A reduced decline in profitability is predicted towards the years 2000 and 2003, however the crop allocation does not change and the farming systems remains on the Simplified Scheme
