Present study was concentrated on the propagation of the red snapper Lutjanus argentimaculatus with special emphasis on growth and economic production. Juveniles red snapper were collected from coastal and mangrove areas at Rayong Province. They were stocked at the initial density of 100 fish/cubic m in floating net cages of 3x3x2 cubic m and fed with chopped small carangids, Selaroides spp. to satiation once daily. Growth parameters, fish productions and environmental conditions were measured and estimated monthly. Average specific growth rate of 1.03+-1.68 percent/day, survival rate of 83.00+-4.93 percent, weight gains of 786.0 g/fish, body weight increase of 2.18+-9.75 g/day, feed efficiency of 15.58+-10.96 percent, condition factor of 22.85+-2.80 and net yield of 33.49+-4.82 kg/cubic m were obtained. The average estimate of net yield was 4,860.80 baht/cubic m, with the average income of 360.04 baht/cubic m. The present study indicated a high feasibility for the commercial cage culture of this species.
