Effect of some plant growth regulators on growth and development of turmeric (Curcuma longa) in culture

Study on the effect of some plant growth regulators on Tumeric (Curcuma longa) was made through tissue culture. Buds of C. longa were cultured on Murashige and Skoog media (MS) supplemented with various concentrations of BA and NAA or 2,4-D singly or combination of BA and 2,4-D. The best results for multiple shoot induction was found on the medium containing BA 5 ppm (4.2 shoots per explant). Good root induction was found on the medium supplemented with 1.0 ppm NAA (7.8 roots per explants). For callus induction, the medium with 1.0 ppm of 2,4-D and 5.0 ppm of BA gave the best results.
