Development of coconut husk shredding machine for agricultural use

Design and development of a coconut husk shredding machine for utilising agriculture by-products available locally was carried out. The criteria of machine design aimed at the efficiency, ease of operation, and less expenditure. For specific technical data of the machine: suitable rotational speed was 1,100 rpm; number of shredder's teeth: 100; angle of auger ridge for pulling coconut coir and angle of comb teeth: 135 degree. For additional technique of using this machine, the coconut husk should be moistened before being fed into the hopper in order to prevent the dispersion of coconut coir and to obtain greater quantity of coconut coir as a product.
