Serology survey of feline calicivirus in vagabond cats in Bangkok and Nakhon Pathom by serum neutralization test

Survey of antibody to feline calicivirus (FCV) in vagabond cats was carried out by serum neutralization test (SN). Fifty-nine cat-serum samples collected in Bangkok and Nakhon Pathom provinces were tested for antibody to FCV. Average antibody titer (log2) of cats in this survey was 8.86 (SD=2.03). The titer in less than 6 months old, 6 months to 4 years old and over 4 years old was 6.54 (SD=1.39), 8.97 (SD=1.47), 10.78 (SD=1.11) respectively. This result indicated that FCV was widespread in vagabond cats in Thailand and might be a sort of infection in domestic cats.
