Present study was conducted to evaluate reproductive performances, i.e. quality and quantity of semen, conception rate, litter size and heterosis of semen quality in Duroc, Pietrain and Duroc-Pietrain hybrid boars. Three boars of each breed mated with 12 Largewhite-Landrace hybrid sows by artificial insemination. Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used as an experimental design. The results showed that Pietrain boars had the greatest level of semen volume, sperm count per ejaculation and conception rate while Duroc boars had the greatest level of sperm concentration. In the meantime, Duroc-Pietrian hybrid boars had the greatest level of sperm concentration and litter size at birth. No significant differences were found in sperm motility, semen pH and sperm viability. The results of this experiment indicated that Peitrain boars had sound semen production performance; whereas sperm from Duroc-Pietrian hybrid boars was expected to have a better fertilizing performance. The characteristic of newborn litter size indicated that some heterosis (hybrid vigor) occurred.
