[Ripples and waves around the Russian damb]

Considered are obstacles, reasons of political, economic, ecological and alogical character connected with the construction of the damb in the Kerch Strait (the Black Sea). The damb is constructed without any proper project and the statement at the local level that it fulfills the bank-protecting role and planned placement thereof does not correspond to the reality. It is proved that among the reasons of the damb construction there are intentions of the Russian part to solve the transport problem in the Kerch Strait, a wish to have a water way of its own. The inexpediency of such a construction is recognized because it has no ecological substantiation. The damb is placed in a region of complicated natural system, the disturbance of which can bring to a regional ecological catastrophe, in particular to an increase in salinity of the water in the Sea of Azov, transformation thereof in a Black Sea's bay, a significant decrease in fish resources, development of meduse colonies in the Southern part of the sea, appearance of other negative processes. The conclusion is drawn that the damb construction has an insufficiently substantiated character
