Preliminary studies on the effectiveness of EM for controlling the major insect pests of chinese kale such as : Diamond back moth (Plutella xylostella (Linn.)), Beet army worm (Spodoptera exigua (Hubner)). Cabbage looper (Trichoplusia ni Hubner) and Leaf esting beetle (Phyllotreta sinuata Steph.). The studies were conducted in farmer's chinese kale plot at amphur Thamoung, Kanchanaburi province, during August-December 1993. Randomized Complete block design with four treatments and five replications were carried out at the different rates of EM. The results from the two trials was confirmarily showed by the same result as EM was not effective to control the four species of insect pests in chinese kale plot which mentioned above. As well as the quality yield of chinese kale and the percentage of infestation in the tested plot showed nto significantly different when compared with the untreated plot.
