Twelve crossbred Holstein-Native steers were randomly allocated to 3 treatments in a completely randomized design : soybean straw + concentrate, urea treated soybean straw + concentrate, urea treated rice straw + concentrate for 140 days and corn soilage or grass + rice bran for another 56 days. In 196 days of experiment period, no significant difference in average daily gain was found among the treatment groups. Although the group fed soybean straw + concentrate tended to gain the best. The average daily gain of the groups were 0.55, 0.50 and 0.48 kg/h/d and 0.58, 0.51 and 0.49 kg/hd/d for 196 and 140 days of experimental periods, respectively. Roughage intake was significantly higher in the group fed with soybean straw (P0.05) but concentrate intake was not different among the groups. Feed per 1 kg gain was not significantly different among treatment groups. However, feed per 1 kg gain of cattle fed on soybean straw tended to be lower than those fed with urea-treated soybean straw and urea-treated ricer straw. During 140 days of experimental period feed cost per 1 kg gain was significantly lowest in the group fed soybean straw + concentrate (P0.05). Feed cost per 1 kg gain of the groups was 20.07, 24.31 and 25.39 baht. However, feed cost per 1 kg gain was not significantly different among the treatment groups during 196 days of experimental period. Total feed cost was 2524.10, 2528.40 and 2575.45 baht for the groups fed on soybean straw, urea-treated soybean straw and urea treated rice straw respectively. Total income from saling live animal was 9794.25, 9524.25 and 9423 baht, respectively. Carcass quality was not different among the groups and carcass dressing percentage was 51.72, 50.50 and 49.09 percent for the group for with soybean straw, urea-treated soybean straw and urea-treated rice straw, respectively.
