Development strategies of land use zoning in Wang Mai Sub District, Muang District, Chumphon Province are to promote introduction of integrated farming or sustainable cropping system for increasing farmers income and capacity of self-sufficiency in agriculture and for stabilizing agricultural production. The land use zoning was investigated by taking acount of current land use pattern, pedological conditions, farm production and demand for farm productions and for home-consumption (socio-economic) factors. The soil survey was done throughout the area in the scale of 1:10,000. The present land use pattern was interpreted from aerial photograph scale 1:15,000 (20 Febuary 1995). The area was classified into paddy field (213 rai) upland crops (1,069 rai) para ruber plantation (4,404 rai) fruit tree cultivation and plantation of fast growing tree (14,947 rai) oil plam plantation (5,937 rai) idle and natural grass land (2,029 rai) conservation zone (7,198 rai) and preservation zone (26,056 rai). The present land use pattern are mostly suited with land capability. The recommendation on soil conservation and land management was presented in each land use unit.
