Botanical characteristics of medicinal plants in vernacular name OP CHOEI THAO

There are two kinds of Thai medicinal plants called Op choei thao in Thai ethanomedical used reports. The first is Atherolepis pierrei Cost. var. glabra Kerr, the roots of this species are used traditionally to be carminative and heart tonic. The later species is Zygostelma benthamii Baill., the stemsare used to treat headache and lumboo-sacral angle pain. In order to guide using the correct species for the efficacious uses, the present study was conducted to report the botanical characteristics and scientific name of each species and also the difference between them.
