Growth of Thailand's economy has increased significantly, while its economy has been still facing with increasing in unemployment continuously. Therefore, the development of the ability of labour absorption is questionable. The objectives of the study are to evaluate the changes of Thai economic structure and to examine the effects of economic development on domestic employment. The present study found that Thai economic structure changed from primary (agricultural sector) to secondary (industrial sector). However, at the same time, the employment did not move from primary sector to secondary sector, unlike the experiences of new industrial countries in asian and any developed countries. Actually, the employment moved from primary sector to in the tertiary sector was increasing. On the other had, in the primary sector labour productivity tertiary sector because labour productivity had just increased slowly as its labour moved out. The productivity in secondary sector fluctuated overtime as a result of the labour immigration. It can be concluded that income and employment of Thailand would depend on the tertiary sector in the future, not on the secondary sector which was expeted. Although, Thailand would become the developed country, the primary sector would be the major income and employment sources of the economy. In order to increase ability of labour absorption, increase in quality of labour (i.e. adjusting eduction and training processes, distributing small industry to rural area, and supporting cultivation which has exporting potential through helping maseting, credit, and production technology) would be taken into consideration.
